Research

Broadly, I do work in computational social sciences on social media. I study the behaviour and influence of agents on social media. Specifically, I work on a few themes: automated agents on social media (bots), influence maneuvers on social media, discourse analysis (hate speech, negotiation, stance expression), and social cybersecurity governance.

BotBuster Universe

Bots are automated agents on social media space. I work in the areas of bot detection and bot analysis. For greater detail, check out BotBuster Universe Project Page. Here's a selection of the bot studies:

Automated agents on social media

Automated agents such as bots and cyborgs live in the same social media ecosystem as humans. This research track forms the core of my PhD thesis, examining the interactions between the bot and human species, and the characteristics of bots on social media. Key papers in this area include:

Influence maneuvers on social media

This pillar studies how people communicate, persuade and create communities on social media. Key papers in this area include:

Discourse Analysis

This thread falls unde a larger umbrealla of Natural Language Processing. I look at anything that generally has a social element to it. Key papers in this area include:

Social Cybersecurity Governance

This thread looks at governance of social spaces and technologies, like social media and biometric technologies. Key papers in this area include:
